Living as a Traditional Christian in a Post-Christian Age
Mark J. Cherry
The purpose of this presentation is to aim at being truly Christian in what has become a post-Christian age. Dr. Cherry will explore the traditional Christian view of basic issues in bioethics (e.g., birth, sex, reproduction, dying, and death), and he will address the challenges of remaining traditionally Christian in what is often an openly hostile culture.
Mark J. Cherry is the Dr. Patricia A. Hayes Professor in Applied Ethics and Professor of Philosophy at St. Edward’s University. He earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Houston and his doctorate degree in philosophy from Rice University.
He is Editor of The Journal of Medicine and Philosophy (Oxford University Press), Senior Editor of Christian Bioethics: Non-Ecumenical Studies in Medical Morality (Oxford University Press), and Editor-in-Chief of HealthCare Ethics Committee Forum (Springer); he is Co-editor of the book series The Annals of Bioethics (Routledge) and Editor of the book series Philosophical Studies in Contemporary Culture (Springer).
Mark Cherry lives in Austin with his wife Mollie and their three sons, Jacob, Thaddeus, and Mattias, where he attends St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church.
